Having a cell phone can be very useful. Some of the phones today can send e-mails, go on the internet, you can have many apps to looko at, games to play, and you can also send text messages to friends. Texting while driving has caused many teens to have a fatal car crash that could end up killing them or putting them in to critical condition. Driving while texting causes the driver to be distracted from the road and look at their phones. The driver could miss a stop sign while texting or not notice the car in front of them is slowing down and could be in a very serious accident that could have been avoided very easily. Texting while driving is the number one cause of death in teens. Texting while driving is like driving while drunk. Car crashes from this distraction are usually very fatal. Police need to crack down harder than they have been to avoid people from killing themselves from the distraction of their cell phones. A way to avoid distractions like this would be to put your phone on silent mode while driving this way you will not be tempted to check your phone if you receive a text message because you would not know. Another way to avoid this is to stop driving if you absolutely need to use your cell phone. If you stop to use your phone make sure you are out of the way of traffic and will not obstruct it in anyway. Texting while driving has led to about 16% of all fatal crashes on the highway. This needs to stop.
